Concert Ensembles
The program features two distinctive concert groups: the premier auditioned Wind Ensemble and our inclusive Symphonic Band. Both ensembles study a diverse repertoire through several annual performances, emphasizing artistic growth and technical mastery. As the heart of the instrumental curriculum at De Pere High School, these ensembles equip every participating student with the skills to mature as a musician while exploring various musical styles throughout the academic calendar year.
Marching Band
Combining the talents of all wind and percussion students from grades 9 through 12, the Marching Redbirds serves as a high-profile ambassador for our school. Preparation begins in late summer with show design and continues throughout the fall football season. Beyond the stadium, the group represents the community in various parades and local outdoor festivities. With a membership often exceeding one hundred students, it stands as one of the most prominent and engaging student organizations within De Pere.
Ensembles
Jazz Ensembles
DPHS presents two jazz options for high schoolers, covering genres from classic swing and funk to latin and contemporary fusion. Jazz Ensemble I requires an audition for placement in our flagship rhythm section and horn line, while Jazz Ensemble II welcomes all interested students to explore the art of improvisation. Both bands maintain active schedules, performing at school concerts and traveling to regional jazz festivals during the winter and spring months to showcase their skills for professional clinicians.
Co-Curricular Ensembles
Opportunities for performance extend far beyond the standard classroom setting. Our high-energy Pep Band ignites school spirit at athletic games, while the Pit Orchestra provides a professional-level backdrop for the annual Fall Musical. Throughout the school year, various small groups and specialty ensembles emerge, ensuring that every musician finds a unique place to share their talent and passion within the DPHS community.

About the Director
Meet The Head Redbird...
Evan Marlowe, a native of Pulaski, Wisconsin is currently in his 21st year of teaching and currently instructs instrumental music at De Pere High School for the Unified School District of De Pere in De Pere, WI. He began his career as the director of bands at Preble High School for Green Bay Area Public Schools. For the next six years, Mr. Marlowe served as the band director for Greenfield High School in the School District of Greenfield in Greenfield, WI. During this time, Mr. Marlowe more than doubled the school band enrollment, created an award-winning competitive marching band program, and increased the band’s community involvement. After the birth of his son Emmett, Mr. Marlowe and wife Keely decided to move back to northeast Wisconsin to be closer to family.
As a performer, Mr. Marlowe has performed with several bands in the area including the St. Norbert Community Band, the Pulaski Community Band, Green Bay Civic Symphony, Green Bay City Band the Blue Opus Big Band, and The Big Band Reunion in Appleton, WI. He has performed and traveled with ensembles in Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, Branson, MO, St. Louis, MO, Mackinac Island, MI, Sandusky, OH, Orlando, FL, New York, NY, Washington D.C., Nassau, Bahamas, a concert tour throughout Austria and the Czech Republic, and numerous other performances. He has also performed with such talented performers such as John Fedchock, Byron Stripling, Louie Bellson, Andy Martin among others.
Mr. Marlowe holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI and also holds a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Marian University in Fond Du Lac, WI. He currently directs the Redbird Marching Band, 2 concert ensembles, 2 jazz ensembles, musical pit orchestra and a pep band that all perform throughout the year. He, his wife Keely, his son Emmett and his Niece Kaitlyn reside in Ledgeview and he is excited to continue to grow with the awesome students De Pere High School!
